Communication is Key
Recent studies show Gen Z students are failing to develop crucial social skills from a lack of face-to-face social interaction. Meanwhile a majority of employers now rank communication skills as the most critical workplace competency, even in technical roles. With teenagers' increasing technology-dependence this problem worsens every year.
Confident Communication is a student workshop designed as the real-world remedy to screen-time’s silent cost: lost social skills.
Confident communication Course
Confident Communication delivers year-by-year high school workshops, using developmental psychology to build lasting confidence and communication skills. The 45-minute in-school workshops run from years 7 to 12, preparing students to excel at interpersonal communication.

TEENAGERS & Communication
Adolescence is the most socially challenging period of our lives. Due to formative processes taking place in the brain (the pre-frontal cortex, specifically) teenagers struggle with a range of socially-necessary skills, from emotional regulation and impulse control to understanding context, perspective-taking and empathy (any high school teacher will vouch for this!)
All this while teenagers are trying to find their identity and build relationships with peers. Gen Z face an unprecedented challenge as they are developing socially and attempting to build genuine connection in a culture that actively discourages face-to-face communication and promotes a near-constant focus on self. It has put them at a disadvantage and puts up a barrier to their success beyond school.
Confident Communication helps students excel at interpersonal communication by first opening a space for them to understand themselves. Through self-awareness students are able make sense of, and manage their own emotions. This opens the door to understanding the emotions and perspectives of others: the real key to confident and authentic communication.

Adrian’s story
B.App.Psych (Bachelor of Applied Psychology- UWA)
B.A (Hons) Eng & Cultural Studies (UWA)
Grad.Dip.Ed (Secondary, UWA)
When I was 15 I had a speech for English class that was perfect on paper. But when I stood in front of my classmates, I froze. My mind went blank, I stumbled, stuttered, and sweat. I failed the assignment. No amount of knowledge could help me when I physically couldn’t present it.
Once I finished school I decided to face that fear in the most extreme way I could think of: by stepping onto the stand-up comedy stage! That decision changed my life. Over the next 15 years I toured WA's comedy scene, became Perth's lifestyle and weather presenter on Channel 9's Today Perth, worked as a professional MC, presented nationally on Channel Nine’s Today Show, and even appeared on a global Netflix series.
From being too scared to speak in front of my class to confidently presenting to millions worldwide, I’ve learned (often the hard way) what it takes to communicate with confidence. Now I teach what I've learned at schools across WA through Finding Your Voice to give students the confidence and skills I wish I had at their age. It has become my mission
